Sandy Deming

Care Team Coordinator |

The first  time I came to King's Way United Methodist Church, I came with my daughter Shana Lawson.  The stained glass window was reminiscent of the stained glass window at the First United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas, where I was a member for many years.  I felt a sense of invitation and peacefulness in the sanctuary at King's Way.

I have long believed that personal growth and nurturing occurs when small groups of people meet with a common goal.  During interaction in such groups I feel bonds are formed that provide a network of care and support.  King's Way has given me the opportunity to be a member of such groups.

Somewhere along the way, I read the book The Purpose Driven Life by.  It became clear by my life experiences, as well as by nursing career, God had prepared me to be along side of persons, usually one on one, who are having anything from a bump in the road to a life changing crisis.  King's Way has afforded me the opportunity to complete Stephen Minister training and leadership, and to serve as co-coordinator of King's Way Care Team.

It is a great pleasure for me to talk with people and get it know their life story and, with the help of God, stand by them during a time of need.  Just as they would do and have done for me.
