Cold Weather Crisis

Every winter, Community Partnership of the Ozarks partners with community volunteers and the City of Springfield to open overnight Crisis Cold Weather shelters to provide life-saving emergency shelter beds to those in need. To help meet this critical need, the Ozarks Alliance to End Homelessness challenges, businesses, churches, groups, and individuals to get involved.

King’s Way helps to meet the need in our community by serving dinner every Saturday evening from November – March for Crisis Cold Weather Shelter. We are always looking for Life Groups, families, circles of friends, or individuals that are willing to help our neighbors experiencing food and housing insecurities this winter season.

We will prepare and distribute bagged dinners for 100-250 people each Saturday (the colder it is outside, the more people we serve). Hot items will need to be put in food containers so they can be placed in plastic or paper bags. We are also responsible for providing all necessary supplies for the meal. When the guests are done eating, the serving team is also responsible for cleanup.

Volunteering to help with a Crisis Cold Weather shelter meal is a wonderful way to live into the teachings of Jesus as we share his love right here in our own community. For Life Groups, circles of friends and family, would you consider coordinating a meal team and sign up to take a Saturday? If you can help, please contact Audrey Kroencke or call the church office.
